Phi Times – February 2015 Update – Sunshine Reunion 2015

Phi Times – February 2015 Update – Sunshine Reunion 2015

A good time was had by all —Bonnie Love, Linda Karp, Donna Snyder, Peggy Hallock-Kraker, Michelle Klinger-Wellner, Leona Stone Scott, Tricia Longo Gibbons and Linda Crittenden.

On January 9th thru 11th, 2015, twenty plus Lambs gathered in West Palm Beach, Florida for a magical weekend celebration of friendship, love and sisterhood.

The weekend started with a meet n’ greet Happy Hour at BJ’s Brew house for drinks, food, laughter and conversation. Sisters continued the party later at the Hawthorne Suites where several gathered for hours of reminiscing and reconnecting with sisters from the ‘70s to the ‘80s.

On Saturday, the party continued with a Reunion luncheon at ER Bradley’s, located on the beautiful Intracoastal Waterway. Sisters, spanning more than 30 years and most dressed in yellow and black, gathered for a beautiful luncheon. The room was festively decorated in yellow and black with balloons, signage and Phi Lamb Banners welcoming us. With laughter, tears, talk of times and traditions gone by, the years seemed to melt away.

We were honored to have two Founding Pearls among us,  Carol Sommerstein Morganthal and Marcy Weingart Rosenzweig, as well as four sisters from PLP’s first pledge class. It was an amazing experience to meet two special sisters who never realized what they helped to start back in Oswego in the spring of 1959. Sisterhood truly transcends all ages.

After the luncheon, many sisters returned to the hotel for an after party where sisters continued to share stories, experiences and reminisce, sharing pledge books, memorabilia and song from all ages.

This regional reunion was the vision of Leona Stone Scott who did a wonderful job of making all the plans for our showcase luncheon event and coordinating her reunion committee: Bonnie Love, Michelle Klinger-Wellner, Tricia Longo Gibbons, and Linda Villani Karp.

A good time was had by all. There was talk of organizing another Florida reunion for next winter, so stay tuned all you Florida residents, Snowbirds, and escapees from winter weather.

The PLPAA supports regional reunions. If you would like to organize a reunion in your area, contact Bonnie Love, PLPAA president, for more information and our Reunion in a box program.

January in some parts can be cold and dreary, so consider trading your snow-gear for shades for a few days. Join PLP sisters in the Sunshine State (Florida) for PLPAA’s first official regional reunion!

PLP has more than 50 alumnae from all eras living in Florida. We’ve selected West Palm Beach as our destination for a PLPAA luncheon on Saturday, January 10, 2015, (restaurant venue & cost TBA). Sisters from Naples, St. Pete, West Palm, and even New York are already planning to make this a weekend event (arriving Friday and departing on Sunday). PLPAA is discussing a welcome event on Friday evening. More on that as the time gets closer.

Our sister, Linda Villani Karp, has arranged a great deal for us at the Hawthorne Suites by Wyndham. It’s only $109 per night (plus 11% tax) for a one-bedroom suite with kitchenette, sitting area, two queen-size beds and daily hot buffet breakfast. The hotel will provide optional airport pick-up/drop-off and shuttle service to any destination within a 5-mile radius of the hotel for $20 per stay per room. That includes downtown, the beach, a new mall, and the airport.

PLPAA is holding a block of 10 rooms. Call 561.472.7000 to make your reservation. Be sure to mention “Phi Lambda Phi” as our group name. A credit card will hold the suite and will not be charged until you arrive. You can cancel with no penalty up to 48 hours before arrival. The price is good from now until January 15th.

For more information contact:
PLPAA Reunion VP Kathy Henry Powell.  If you plan to attend, please email Kathy.IMPORTANT: include where you are coming from and when you will arrive/leave. We will need a headcount to plan for the Friday welcome event and lunch reservations. We may also need to add more rooms to the block. Thanks for letting us know your plans!

We look forward to a memorable weekend of fun, and we hope to see YOU there!
